On May 17, 2022, the European Union Aviation Safety Committee held a session with aviation authorities of the European Union (27 member states) in Brussels (Belgium), whereby Kazakh delegation has presented a report regarding the civil aviation industry and flight safety.
The Kazakh delegation was represented by the Advisor to the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Director General of the RSE "Kazaeronavigatsia" Azat Bekturov, the Director General of the JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan" Katalin Radu, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Belgium and Air Astana and headed by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the MIID of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev. The delegation reported on the progress that had been achieved under the flight safety policies and informed about an independent audit provided by ICAO's auditors as part of the ICAO Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM), whereby Kazakhstan increased the level of flight safety from 74% to 84%, representing a 15 per cent growth from the global average.
Members of the EU Aviation Safety Committee commended Kazakhstan for its achievements and welcomed the efforts towards the flight safety. It should be noted, there are no restrictions for Kazakh airlines to operate to European countries.
An official assessment of the current flight safety situation in Kazakhstan will be published by the European Union in early June this year.
