Turkish Airlines operated its first flight powered by biofuel

Turkish Airlines has presented the Airbus 321 bearing the number TC-JSU, equipped with special green design elements on the fuselage and using the SAF. Thus, the Turkish air carrier operated its first flight to Stockholm, confirming their involvement in the zero-waste culture.

Kraft paper napkins, paper cups, wooden salt and pepper shakers were used during the test flight. Green tea was served to all the passengers free of charge. Eco-friendly pillowcases and blankets made from a special water-saving material were provided for premium salons, and children were given certified wooden toys.

Turkish Airlines supports the biofuel production efforts and aims to increase the number of flights that use environmentally friendly materials during their flights. The company will pursue its efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions using next-generation aircrafts. In the future, company intends to expand the route network powered by biofuel: Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Paris and London. Turkish Airlines' fleet is one of the youngest fleets worldwide, whereby the average age of an aircraft is 8.5 years.
