Coordination exercises in Akmola search and rescue area

In accordance with the plan for conducting coordination and communication exercises with the forces and means involved in search and rescue flights on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by the Civil Aviation Committee, on April 27, 2022, the coordination exercises were held in the Akmola search and rescue area.
The specialists of the Search and Rescue Coordination Center and the Air Traffic Service subdivision of the “Central Kazakhstan Regional Center of ATM” subsidiary of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE together with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Search and Emergency Flights Servicing of the airport of the city of Nur-Sultan, as well as the crews and employees of “Kazaviaspas” JSC, who are on duty by Mi-172 on search and rescue support at the Nur-Sultan aerodrome, held the training activities on search of aircraft suffering distress, evacuation and provision first aid to the affected.
During the exercises, the above-mentioned services worked out a methodology for interaction during search and rescue operations, methods for searching an aircraft suffering distress, selecting sites for landing a search and rescue aircraft, and evacuating affected from the scene. A duty helicopter Mi-8 of “Kazaviaspas” JSC with rescuers and medical workers on board was involved to conduct the exercises.
In general, it is noted that such exercises are an element of the national system of search and rescue flight support, created based on Annex 12 “Search and Rescue” to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
