AIRBUS A380 was operated on SAF for the first time

The first A380 aircraft was operated on 100% SAF (sustainable aviation fuel). The global aviation industry is betting heavily on this type of fuel, hoping that it might reduce the aviation's dependence on traditional fossil fuels by cutting carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
Fuel company Total Energies supplied 27 tons of undiluted SAF for this flight, which took off from Blagnac airport in Toulouse, France. According to Airbus, the provided SAF consisted primarily of used vegetable oil and other waste fats and was free of aromatics and sulfur. SAF is the cleanest fuel worldwide, being a key part of the aviation industry's long-term plans in reducing carbon emissions.
It should be noted, the A380 is not the first Airbus operating at 100% SAF. Two other Airbus aircrafts have already passed similar tests: the A319neo and the A350. All the aircrafts are currently certified to operate on a 50/50 blend of SAF and conventional kerosene fuel. Airbus intends to operate on 100% SAF by the end of this decade.
