The Board of Directors of low-cost airline flynas has approved a strategic development plan, involving the increase of the order to 250 new aircrafts. Flynas CEO Bander Al-Mohanna notes that such ambitious intentions to develop a low-cost airline are based on the state advantageous geographical position and will be implemented as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 strategic plan to diversify the kingdom's economy and abandon "oil dependence".
This plan includes the civil aviation development in Saudi Arabia and is aimed at increasing the annual passenger flow up to 330 million passengers by connecting the kingdom with more than 250 destinations worldwide. To date, flynas has an order for 76 narrow-body aircrafts of the Airbus A320neo family.
The airline originally called Nas Air has begun operating since 2007. The airline's route network includes more than 70 domestic and international destinations. After acquiring the announced number of aircrafts, flynas will become the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa region.
