The Head of Tata Sons Mr. Chandrasekaran has been named the Chairman of Air India, according to the aviation sources. On October 8, 2021, software corporation Tata Group won the tender to acquire the debt-laden state-owned airline Air India by offering Rs 180,000,000,000 (approximately $2,358,295,000).
Chandrasekaran's appointment as Chairman was approved last week. In addition, Tata Sons have to appoint a Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India. In February 2022, the corporation announced that former Chairman of Turkish Airlines İlker Ayçi should get these positions. However, he refused the ambitious proposal for personal reasons.
