Representatives of the MIID of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting on issues relating to the Trans-Caspian International Route in Baku.

The parties discussed the expected cargo projections for 2022, including the capacity on railway sectors and along the Caspian Sea, the conditions for additional cargo load, as well as the implementation of the so-called Middle Corridor and a promising joint venture that would resolve the issues of transversal tariff formation and cargo declaration by applying unified IT solutions and consolidating a transit cargo along the route.

Considering the cargo reorientation of Kazakhstan exporters towards the Trans-Caspian International Route, the Vice Minister of MIID of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Kamaliyev noted that 2 million tons of local cargo are ready for transportation through this Route.

In addition, the representative of the MIID of the Republic of Kazakhstan had subsequently invited the Azerbaijan party to develop road freight transport on the Route, thereby considering a proposal to increase the number of flights between two states, and positive feedback has been received by the Head of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the session, the participants adopted a joint decision regarding the creation of a working group on transit promotion.
