A passenger traffic in countries of Southeast Asia and the Pacific region is expected to grow rapidly, by 5.3% per year by accelerating the decommission of former aircrafts. Over 20 years, cargo traffic in the Asia-Pacific region will grow steadily at 3.6 percent per year doubling by 2040, whereby 17,620 new passenger and cargo aircrafts will be needed.

“We are witnessing a trend towards global traffic recovery and along with the future weakened restrictions, the Asia-Pacific region will again become one of its main drivers. We are confident in significant traffic growth in this region which can reach levels of 2019 between 2023 and 2025,” said Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International.

In the next 20 years, about 39,000 new passenger and cargo aircrafts will be needed worldwide, whereby 15,250 airplanes are replacements. By 2040, the vast majority of commercial aircrafts will represent the latest generation. To date, there are about 13 percent of aircrafts, thereby significantly improving the operational efficiency.
