The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has declared that the authority won't certify the Boeing 787 aircrafts. Since May 2021, Boeing has not been able to provide a new Dreamliner aircraft due to operational issues.
Currently, more than a hundred 787s have been ordered by customers, but no one knows when buyers will receive their airplanes. Boeing, based in Chicago, has already paid a lot of fines due to the shutdown of deliveries. The FAA stated that they will conduct additional inspections and would maintain authority to certify each new aircraft following the resumption of 787s until the Boeing's quality control and production meet and even exceed federal standards. In addition, Boeing must develop an action plan for servicing aircrafts that need to be repaired.
After two terrible crashes of the Boeing 737 Max, the US Federal Aviation Administration was criticized for insufficient attention to flight control systems. Nearly 80 percent of aircrafts sold by Boeing to customers could face similar problems. So far, Boeing has refused to give investors even a rough timeline for resuming 787 deliveries.
