In February, the Greek Aegean Airline has provided their passengers an access to Internet. Communication is provided by a special antenna that transmits a signal to the ground via satellites. The new equipment has been installed on seven medium-haul airliners of the Airbus A320 family.
Currently, Aegean Airlines offers three access packages. "Free 10" connects the network for 10 minutes to send messages or open pages. The "Text & Surf" package costs 4 euros for the entire flight and has a speed limit of 1.5 Mbps. The "Stream" package for 9 euros has an access speed of up to 15 Mbps, allowing to watch video during the entire flight. In order to access the Internet on Aegean Airline flight, a passenger should connect to the on-board Wi-Fi network.
The Greek airline's fleet includes medium-haul aircrafts of the Airbus A320 family and regional Dash 8 aircrafts. Aegean Airlines expects to provide its entire A320 fleet with antennas for Internet access by 2025.
