Airlines from Germany, Austria and Switzerland suspend flights to Ukraine

Airlines from the Lufthansa Group: Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss) have announced the suspension of most flights to Ukraine amid rising tensions in the region.
Lufthansa flies from Frankfurt to Kiev and Lvov and from Munich to Kiev. The official website of the air carrier states that flights to Kiev will be suspended from 21 to 28 February.
Austrian Airlines flies from Vienna to Kiev, Lvov and Odessa. The press service of the airline declared on the website: avianews.com that flights to Kiev and Odessa are being suspended until the end of February. On February 20, Austrian Airlines will operate special flights from Kiev and Odessa to pick up passengers. The airline will continue flights Vienna-Lviv as usual, the press service noted.
The Swiss will suspend flights on its only one route to Ukraine, Kiev-Zurich from February 21 to 28, the airline's press service declared on the website avianews.com. The last flight this month will take place on February 20. The airline emphasized that they also refused to use the airspace of Ukraine for transit flights.
The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is currently working on options that will allow continuing the transportation of passengers during the cancellation of flights. “We are negotiating with Ukrainian air carriers on the possibility of launching additional flights on routes on which Lufthansa Group will not be able to operate as soon as possible,” said Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Dutch airline KLM has stopped flying to Ukraine for an indefinite period of time since February 13, as well as the transit over Ukraine. The company made such decision after assessing the possible risks of flying to Ukraine against the background of the information about Russia's possible invasion.
