There will be another one in the tight space of international airshows. In order to promote and develop commercial aviation in the "Eastern Economic Corridor", Thailand will organize its own Thailand International Airshow in 2025. The event will be held at the newly modernized Utapao Airport (UTP) in Pattaya.
Thailand's exports of aviation components and equipment reached $3.2 billion in 2018, said Chiruit Ayuthaya, president of the Thailand Exhibition and Convention Bureau. He said the air show aims to promote Thailand as a manufacturer and exporter of aviation products.
Utapao Airport is operated by the Thai Navy. It plans to develop the production of aircraft parts as well as maintenance and repair of aircraft here, in addition to the existing tourist flows.
Aviation and logistics are among Thailand's five strategic industries under the country's new 20-year development plan.
Thailand holds a defense and security exhibition in Bangkok on odd-numbered years. Currently, only Singapore and Malaysia organize their own air shows in Southeast Asia: the Singapore Airshow in even-numbered years and the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition in odd-numbered years.
The Moscow Aerospace Salon (MAKS) and the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget are also held in odd-numbered years.
