The American company Boom Supersonic will build a plant for the production of a new passenger supersonic aircraft Overture at Piedmont Tried Airport in North Carolina, USA. The company will create a final assembly factory, the test department and the transfer center for customers.
The area of the main building will be 37 thousand square meters, which is equivalent to five football fields. The total area of the plant is 26 hectares. Boom Supersonic will start the construction of the plant in 2022 and Overture's production will be started in 2024. The roll-out of the first airliner is scheduled for 2025, the first test flight for 2026, commercial routes are scheduled for 2029.
Overture will become a modern analogue of the Anglo-French supersonic passenger aircraft Concorde. The new airliner can accommodate from 65 to 88 passengers and operate up to 7.9 thousand km. Using a speed of 1,800 km/h, the flight from New York to London will take 3.5 hours, from New York to Frankfurt - 4 hours. A main feature is the flight altitude of 18,000 meters, enabling to see the blue of space and the roundness of the Earth. The project envisages the utilization of sustainable fuel that reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
