Boeing has announced the launch of the new 777-8 Freighter cargo aircraft after signing a $20 billion deal with Qatar Airways. According to the manufacturer, the airliner will be the largest in the aviation history among cargo aircrafts equipped with two engines.

The 777-8 Freighter will be able to carry up to 118 tons of commercial cargo over a distance of 8,100 km. The manufacturer notes that this operational range will enable to perform short intermediate landings for refueling. Airlines would be able to cost savings at intermediate airports when transporting goods over long distances. The aircraft will be fuel-efficient thanks to light carbon fiber composite wings and new engines.

Qatar Airways has also signed a memorandum for the future delivery of 50 Boeing 737-10 (formerly Boeing 737 MAX 10) medium-haul passenger aircrafts. If the document becomes a full-scope contract, a purchase of 25 airliners and another option for 25 aircrafts will be provided. The Boeing 737-10 has a maximum capacity of 230 passengers.
