Created on 28.01.2022 09:08

In 2022, the Armenian authorities will launch a new national airline Fly Arna. Arna stands for ARmenian NAtional Airlines and will be operated as the low-cost carrier. The entire style of the new air carrier will be decorated in the colors of the Armenian flag.

Fly Arna is 51% owned by the ANIF (the State Fund of Armenia), the remaining 49% are owned by the Emirates low-cost airline Air Arabia. The Fly Arna fleet will include the Airbus A320 aircrafts. According to the Head of the Air Arabia group Adel al-Ali, the first flights will be operated at the end of May 2022. The flight plan includes routes from Yerevan to cities of Central Asia, Russia and the Middle East.

Reportedly, Armenian authorities will have to settle issues related to flight safety with the European Union in order to operate flights to Europe. In 2020, Europe blacklisted all the Armenian airlines and forbade them automatically to operate any flights to the European Union.
