Georgian Airways will be sold

According to Interfax, the Georgian air carrier Georgian Airways was offered for sale on the market for $150 million. In January, Tbilisi court has issued an order for bankruptcy proceedings in the amount of 176 million lari ($56.8 million).

The airline's financial situation was shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the carrier to suspend its flight program, thereby owing money to dozens of companies and 16,000 passengers.

Reportedly, the airline was established in 1993 under the name Airzena. Since 1999, the company has become the national carrier of Georgia. In August 2004, it was renamed Georgian Airways. The company's fleet includes Boeing 737, Embraer and CRJ aircrafts.
