According to the monitoring agency Energyprom.kz, approximately 8.6 million passengers were transported in January-November 2021, whereby their number has been increased by 73.7% compared to the same period in 2020. For the entire pandemic year, 5.5 million passengers were transported, which is 36.4% less than a year earlier. Following a trend over the past five years, the number of passengers has only been increased since 2016, the only exception being 2020.

The amount of cargo transported exceeded the figure for the same period in 2020 by 1.5 times (20.4 thousand tons). Moreover, the volume of transported goods was significantly reduced during two years. A large increase in cargo transported was observed in 2017 and 2018.

In addition, 1.9 million people flew through the Shymkent airport, 529.2 thousand people flew through the capital's airport. 62.8% of the total cargo transportation and baggage was transported in Almaty - 19.2 thousand tons, 9 thousand tons of cargo were transported through the Shymkent airport, 2.4 thousand tons - through Nur-Sultan airport.
