Airlines ordering the popular narrow-body Airbus aircrafts will have to wait about two years for deliveries since the production capacity for these aircrafts is limited, Kursiv.kz writes with reference to Interfax.

According to the Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer, the demand for the A320 family aircrafts that are used on medium-haul routes is so high that large orders are now accepted for 2024-2025. The high demand for A320, A321, A220 aircrafts is associated with the fact that airlines are seeking to replenish their fleet with more energy-efficient aircrafts.

Airbus intends to increase production of its A320 family airliners up to 65 units per month by 2023 and up to 75 per month by 2025. In 2019, the company produced 60 aircrafts per month, beating the long-standing record. Last year, production volumes have been reduced up to 40 aircrafts per month due to the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, Airbus SE reduced its commercial aircraft deliveries in October to the lowest level owing to continued delays in receiving components.
