Leadership from three UK airlines, including Johan Lundgren (EasyJet), Shay Weiss (Virgin Atlantic) and Alex Cruz (former CEO of British Airways) stated that existing shortcomings in pursuing data technologies have a negative impact on passengers, thereby preventing airlines to implement their financial potential.
At the same time, intrusion into the transport industry did not seem to be particularly worrisome among carriers. During a recent professional event in London, Microsoft's Business Director in tourism and related services Julie Sheynock has announced that airlines use no more than 40% of all the passenger data.
In particular, company executives have noted that this figure is likely close to 10%. According to them, each round trip creates roughly one billion data points. "It would be great if we used 30-40%, this is a huge opportunity", the message says.
