The world's first eco-fueled flight will be operated in the USA

American airline will launch a 100% eco-fueled flight from Chicago to Washington, being the world's first flight on the so-called sustainable fuel. An eco-friendly flight from Chicago to Washington, which attracted over 100 passengers was organized by the American United Airlines in partnership with Boeing, CFM International, Virent and World Energy under the Eco-Skies AllianceSM program. This is the first time in aviation history that a commercial carrier has used sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The flight from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Reagan Washington National Airport will be operated by 737 MAX 8 United aircraft. The United Eco-Skies Alliance program was launched in April 2021 and has now contributed to the SAF's purchase in the amount of seven million gallons. Eco-fuel emits approximately 80 percent less greenhouse gases compared to conventional jet fuel.
