Dubai Airshow 2021 has officially become the largest event since the first air show in 1989. In total, contractual dealings were made in the amount of $ 78 billion within one week. The gala-event attracted more than 104,000 participants, whereby the number of visitors was more than 50 percent. According to the promoters, senior executives from 148 global countries attended the event.
Moreover, major contracts have been signed in the defense and space sectors. The Airbus' participation proved to be such a successful that orders and obligations have been accepted for 408 aircrafts. These agreements involved the entire spectrum of commercial aircraft families, including the first contract for the A350F cargo production. Boeing has announced an order for 72 units of 737 Max aircrafts from new Indian airline Akasa Air.
In addition, the UAE Ministry of Defense signed contracts in the amount of AED 22.5 billion with European, American and Asian contractors and suppliers. On the first day, the UAE Air Force and Air Defense Forces entered into deals in the amount of AED 11 billion for maintenance and specialized support services.
