Global travel restrictions imposed in connection with the pandemic have led to a severe flight reduction around the world, including the transatlantic travel. After the United States lifted the international travel ban, Munich Airport has launched 14 routes to American cities and Canada. In December, Munich airport's figures will be reverted to the pre-crisis level. From mid-December, 100 flights will be operated each week to the United States, Canada and Mexico.
In addition to routes to North America, the number of scheduled flights to other long-haul destinations is also increasing: Singapore Airlines operates to Singapore, Lufthansa to Seoul and Cape Town, Emirates and Lufthansa to Dubai, Etihad to Abu Dhabi, Qatar Airways to Doha. Moreover, Condor will resume flights to Punta Cana and Dominican Republic, TUI FLY to the Cape Verde Islands and Oman Air will fly to Muscat this winter. Thus, the winter schedule 2022 of Munich Airport includes 27 intercontinental destinations.
