The first wide-body Boeing 777X, which operated before the pandemic in January 2020, was presented at the International Dubai Airshow. Initially, it was planned to distribute shipments of the new aircraft in 2020. However, the supply program underwent through many delays and the aircraft will be delivered to the first customer at the end of 2023.
The Dubai Airshow is an important step for the Boeing 777X. In total, two modifications of the 777X are currently being developed. The length of new aircraft is less than 77 meters, the wingspan is 72 meters. Additionally, Boeing has developed four-meter foldable wingtips so the aircraft can be parked near air ramps at most airports in the world. The 777-9 can accommodate up to 426 passengers and equipped with two cabins, including a more comfortable humidity system, massive windows and low noise levels. The cockpit is also borrowed from the 787th and equipped with upgraded radio-electronic display.
The aircraft is powered by General Electric's new GE9X engines built specifically for the 777X. Over 1,700-1,800 flight test hours will be required to enable the new liner to be certified, but manufacturers are confident to begin deliveries in late 2023.
