In August, Brazilian Embraer has started flight-testing of an electric technology demonstrator aircraft. In the first tests, experts were considering the power and efficiency of the new setup, control and temperature conditions, the operational safety of the new system.
The scientific project is being developed in cooperation with the global leading companies: the Brazilian WEG, operating in the field of electrical engineering and the Portuguese EDP, dealing with the electric power industry. The project uses the WEG electric transmission system and EDP batteries. The "flying lab" will be the EMB-203 Ipanema, a single-seat agricultural aircraft that has been already a part of Embraer's history.
Embraer is supporting an ongoing technological development program, aimed at improving the aircraft efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and gas emissions. The data obtained from the demonstration aircraft tests will enable the company to develop innovative products and promote a sustainable future.
