S7 Airlines in Russia and Air Astana in Kazakhstan have joined over 70 airlines worldwide that are testing the IATA Travel Pass application.
Russian airline passengers will be able to evaluate the new service on flights from Moscow to Germany (Munich, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hannover and Cologne). The pilot project will be held from September 6 to October 6.
The Kazakhstani national carrier will provide an opportunity to test the "traveler's passport" from September 2 to September 16 on the Nur-Sultan-Istanbul international route.
IATA Travel Pass was developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and works on mobile devices. First, the passenger has to download the app and upload a scan of their passport into it, as well as select the flight they are going to take. Based on the downloaded data, the passenger will have up-to-date information about the requirements for documents and current restrictions due to coronavirus infection on the route.
Also in the "passport" partner laboratories will send passengers the results of COVID-19 testing through secure channels. And the passenger will be able to check whether his COVID-19 tests meet the requirements of the country of entry, and provide this data to the airline employee when checking in for the flight.
