The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has got another new customer: the British airline Jet 2, operating Boeing 737 and 757 aircraft on resort routes, has signed a contract for the purchase of 36 Airbus A321neo with the right to increase its number to 60 units. The value of the contract is estimated at $ 8.1 billion, although the airline noted that it received "substantial discounts."
The first batch of 36 aircraft will be delivered over five years, until 2028. The aircraft will allow for a renewal and expansion of the fleet as the airline expects demand for "holiday" travel to increase.
Despite the initial commitment to Boeing, Jet2 opted for the Airbus A321 neo after a successful lease of two A321.
