Modernisation of air transport infrastructure

In Kazakhstan, work is being systematically carried out to modernize the air transport infrastructure.

Within the framework of the Government program of Infrastructural Development "Nurly Zhol" for 2020-2025, reconstruction of the runway of Ust-Kamenogorsk airport is carried out. The project provides for lengthening the runway by 300 m and replacing the lighting and signalling equipment to accept modern types of aircraft.

Construction of new terminal of Shymkent airport is going on due to private investments, which allows to extend terminal area from 3.8 up to 35 thousand m2 and increase capacity from 150 up to 2000 passengers/hour.

The new terminal will meet international quality and safety standards, which will provide residents and visitors of the metropolis with a high level of comfort.

The Akimat of the West Kazakhstan region with attraction of private investments is conducting the work on reconstruction of the airport terminal complex of Uralsk city. The area of the terminal will be more than doubled, the terminal capacity will be increased from 100 to 200 passenger/hour.

Completion of construction work on these projects is scheduled by the end of 2021 and the first half of 2022.

In order to provide transport accessibility to the tourist centre of the Alakol Lake this year it is planned to complete reconstruction of the runway and the air terminal building of Urdzhar village. Works on reconstruction of the runway, taxiway and apron of Usharal airport have also started this year.

The implementation of these projects will contribute to the improvement of the ground infrastructure of the airports, the improvement of safety and service standards.
