Amazon launches a $ 1.5 Billion Air Cargo Hub in Cincinnati

Amazon, one of the global largest e-commerce companies, has announced the commissioning of a new air cargo hub in Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (IATA code: CVG). The hub, which had cost $ 1.5 billion, is a part of strategy in order to accelerate cargo flows, thereby leading the Amazon's main artery for processing and sorting shipments in a logistics network, including 40 airports of the USA.
The hub's construction on an area of 242 hectares, half an hour from Cincinnati, began with the filing of the company's founder Jeff Bezos in 2019. The hub includes a sorting center with an area of 74.3 thousand sq.m., using the innovative technologies and equipped with the most modern technology, including robotic manipulators, mobile units and kilometers of conveyor belts.
In addition, the territory has its own apron for aircraft parking, seven industrial buildings and a multi-storey parking for vehicles. According to Amazon, the new hub will be contributing to create 2,000 new jobs in the region. Amazon Air has 80 aircrafts.
