From August 9 to August 31, 2021, Air Astana will proceed a weigh-in procedure for passengers over 18 years old departing on domestic and international flights from the Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports, Tengritravel.kz writes.
According to the airline's press service, the weigh-in procedure will be voluntary, whereby ticket prices in no way will be affected and will be carried out for the purpose to improve the flight safety.
"The pre-flight weigh-in is carried out in accordance with the IATA's Rules by collecting the statistical data in establishing the balance of the aircraft. This procedure is conducted by the airlines (members of the association) every five years," the airline stated.
Reportedly, the total weigh-in will be provided after check-in in a specially gender-disaggregated place. The procedure does not provide for confidential information. Moreover, passengers completing the weighing procedure would become participants of a win-win lottery.
