In the spring this year, QAZAQ AIR was successfully certified by the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK) for the maintenance of the De Havilland Dash-8 400 operated aircraft. Thus, preparatory work for launching its own service has been completed by Qazaq Air's resources.
Peter Griffiths, AAK Director General, notes: “This is the first step towards the repatriation of all the commercial aircrafts operating in Kazakhstan that will take about five years to finalize the process. Qazaq air has completed its re-registration, and soon we will move on to the Air Astana fleet that will go through a two-stage process. The first stage is registration in Ireland, then since 2024, new aircrafts will be registered in Kazakhstan”.
Following this certification, QAZAQ AIR proceeded to re-register the fleet in the Kazakhstan Aircraft Register. The state registration number of an aircraft is an identification number assigned to an aircraft upon completion of the procedure for entering it into the aviation register of a state. Currently, the entire air fleet of QAZAQ AIR has an updated aviation registration prefix - UP (Civil Aviation of Kazakhstan).
Moreover, aircrafts were re-registered without interruption of their operation due to the well-coordinated teamwork of the AAK and the QAZAQ AIR. Thus, the impact on the current flight schedule was minimal.
On average, each aircraft had been transferred out of schedule for 3 days. During this period, QAZAQ AIR engineers carried out work on re-registration of radio beacon equipment and updated the state identification marks. Supervisory state inspectors carried out a full audit in advance, along with technical inspection of the aircrafts with the issuance of an airworthiness certificate.
“Since August 1, QAZAQ AIR aircrafts have been registered in Kazakhstan and are being serviced by their own certified service station. The airline's independence for aircraft maintenance will be controlled by Kazakhstan regulatory authorities, thereby enabling the development of the local engineering staff on a long-term basis. QAZAQ AIR will continue developing its internal localization for efficient development by providing affordable air fares to our passengers "- Plamen Atanasov stated, the Chairman of the Board of "QAZAQ AIR" JSC.
