The demand for global air service is rising sharply

According to the IATA's data, the demand for international and domestic air travel in May 2021 has been increased compared to April, but passenger traffic is still significantly lower than previously and before the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported by Kursiv.kz with reference to Interfax-Kazakhstan.
The IATA noted that tourism restrictions has deterred international air operations due to the pandemic. The total passenger turnover in May this year was 62.7% lower than in the pre-crisis May 2019. For comparison: in April, the figure was 65.2% lower than two years earlier. The situation has been improved in all the regions, except for Asian region.
Сomparing current and previous figures, IATA stated that the strongest indicator growth compared to February 2019 was recorded in Africa - by 42.3%, North America - by 17.1%, in the Middle East - by 8.7%, the Asia-Pacific region - by 7.1% and Europe - by 4.7%. A decline was found in Latin America - by 18.4%.
