Boeing 737MAX-10 operated the first flight

Created on 25.06.2021 08:45

The Boeing 737MAX-10, the largest member of the non-motorized 737MAX family and equipped with the longest fuselage ever, operated its first test flight that lasted 2.5 hours from Renton Field (Washington State, USA).

The corporation expects the B-737MAX-10 would play a key role in the company's overall recovery strategy, which has been survived the 20-month downtime of the MAX family, thereby struggling to keep on narrow-body aircrafts competing with Airbus A321neo. The 10 program is now lagging three years behind its original schedule due to the known operational and regulatory issues plaguing MAX family and the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a certification's reassessment, Boeing was forced to make modifications to the aircraft design and change the program's schedule: commissioning is postponed until 2023. The aircraft is designed to accommodate 204 passengers in a typical layout of two classes and up to 230 passengers in mono layout. Besides, the aircraft is equipped with an additional fuel tank, it has a range of 6110 km. Noise level is 50% lower and CO2 emissions are reduced by 14% compared to the previous generation of Boeing 737NG aircraft.
