The cheapest Georgian airport Kutaisi has officially opened a new terminal that had been increased by 6 times at once. Previously, the terminal's area was 4800 square meters, which made it possible to serve 600 thousand passengers in comfortable conditions annually. Currently, the building has an area of 30,000 square meters and can accommodate approximately 2.5 million passengers every year that is equivalent to 19 flights a day on the huge medium-haul aircrafts such as Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, Аvianews writes.
Georgian authorities built a new terminal at Kutaisi Airport and opened it for civil aviation in 2012. Low service tariffs had enabled the Georgian market to attract two European low-cost airlines such as Wizz Air and Ryanair. Until now, almost all the flights were served by the capital airport in Tbilisi and the airport on the Black Sea in Batumi.
