The IATA's digital Travel Pass will be introduced in the coming weeks, according to the IATA CEO Willie Walsh. Almost 60 global airlines are participating in testing the Travel Pass mode and more than 60 thousand passengers have already used this application, ATO writes.
IATA Travel Pass is a mobile application for storing and managing documents confirming vaccinations or test results for COVID-19. The association argues that the program is protected from forgery and more effective than current paper-based health certification such as the International Vaccination Certificate or Prophylaxis Certificate. This is extremely important, given the massive scale of test verification and vaccinations against COVID-19 throughout the pandemic.
In view of the current conditions of significantly reduced international passenger traffic, verification of paper vaccinations or other health status of a passenger is leading to long delays at the passport control of airports. In recent months, law enforcement agencies in several countries have repeatedly reported on criminal cases related to the sale of fake vaccination certificates. Moreover, such certificates were offered directly at the entrance to the terminal at several airports.
