Kazakhstan has not intention to abandon the "open skies" project, enabling it to operate in full force as the epidemiological situation improves. Airlines from Austria, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and other countries are expected to be operated to the country without restrictions, Sputnik Kazakhstan writes.
The "open skies" mode means the removal of all restrictions on the number of flights. Foreign airlines are provided with the fifth degree of air freedom, operating their flights through Kazakhstan cities to third countries (in those directions that Kazakhstan carriers do not operate on). Among the advantages of the open skies are the attraction of foreign carriers, increased competition and reduced airfares.
Currently, this mode is operating at 12 airports of Kazakhstan: Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, Semey and Turkestan. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development has negotiated with over 20 countries. Among them are Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Malaysia, Austria.
