Created on 07.06.2021 08:35

The British company Hybrid Air Vehicles intends to replace the aircrafts with airships in some destinations of Europe and North America. Despite the fact that balloons are flying slower than aircrafts, but they are less environmentally damaging. By 2025, the Airlander 10 airships are expected to carry out passengers, as reported by the Tourister.

The airship flight would be more time-consuming than aircraft. For example, it will be possible to get from Liverpool to Belfast in five and a half hours, the way the aircraft covers this distance in an hour. During the time, it emits 67.75 kg of harmful substances into the atmosphere, and the airship - only 4.75 kg. The Airlander 10 is a hybrid of an airplane, helicopter and an airship and originally was developed in 2012 for military purposes. The first experimental flight was operated in 2016.

Serial production is planned to produce in the coming months. One of the customers will be the Swedish travel company OceanSky Cruises that intends to operate them on the routes across the North Pole. The aircraft is rising to an altitude of 4.9 km and developing a speed of up to 148 km / h, being in the air for two weeks.
