A new Montenegrin airline will launch flights

Montenegro's new national carrier called the Air Montenegro start operating this summer. The exact launch date has not yet been named, however, the Ministry of Capital Investment has reported that this launch might happen before June 1, the ATO writes.

The Montenegrin government has made every effort to quickly create a replacement for the bankrupt national carrier Montenegro Airlines. The new airline has already received an air operator certificate in early May. The project's authors hope to serve a tourist flow arriving to the popular Balkan country.

However, the airline is experiencing a strong competition from foreign carriers. In particular, Air Serbia has increased the frequency of flights from Belgrade to Podgorica. Previously, the most popular route was operated by Montenegro Airlines. Moreover, a large tourist traffic is also usedby European low-cost airlines.
