The largest Dutch airport Schiphol has begun checking all passengers' hand luggage using CT scanners. Actually, scanners are used in test mode since 2015, as reported by avianews.
The new equipment is used both to monitor passengers departing from Amsterdam and those travelers making a transit in Schiphol. CT scanners enable the aviation security to oversee all the suitcases as a three-dimensional 3D image that can be rotated at 360 degrees if necessary.
Moreover, passengers will be able to take containers with a volume exceeding 100 ml in their hand luggage if the CT scanner identifies that their contents are safe. However, such exemptions for liquids will be only applied when departing from Amsterdam. Old rules are applied when returning back or transferring at other airports: no more than 10 liquid containers with the volume of 100 ml.
