Lufthansa bought the Dreamliners

German airline Lufthansa has announced the purchase of five long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, from which other airlines had abandoned due to the aviation crisis. These aircrafts have already been produced, thereby their delivery will be accelerated. The first aircraft will be available at Lufthansa this winter, the remaining four liners in the first half of 2022 appropriately, the avianews reports.
The German airline also has ordered five long-haul A350-900 airliners from the European manufacturer Airbus. Lufthansa will receive them in 2027 and 2028. At the moment, the German air carrier intends to reduce its fleet and renewal in order to survive the crisis by improving its efficiency.
According to Lufthansa, new aircrafts use an average of 2.5 liters of kerosene per 100 kilometers, while the previous generation aircrafts use 30% more. In general, the use of new aircrafts will enable the air carrier to reduce operating costs by 15%.
