Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan would introduce the Asian Schengen

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are considering the introduction of the Schengen Silk Road Visa that would become an analogue of the Schengen visa for the Silk Road countries, Sputnik Kazakhstan writes. Moreover, Uzbek side has conducted two consular consultations and four meetings of the working group regarding the Silk Road Visa project.
"The proposed mechanism is intended to overcome obstacles on the way of a transnational issues (visa, customs and border barriers when tourists cross the borders of neighboring countries). Following the working sessions, the states agreed on Silk Road Visa Regulations based on the multiple-entry electronic tourist visa and a single list of countries whose citizens will be able to apply for an e-Silk Road Visa", stated the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Authority also indicated that legal and regulatory issues are being addressed, including information system integration, co-financing of the project, a single consular fee and the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement to fully implement the project. The initiative was appreciated by Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
