Testing biometric systems at Istanbul International Airport (IST) significantly reduced the check-in and identification time by 30%, according to technology developer SITA. The contractor has recently announced the completion of a 6-month experience in using biometric technologies to optimize passenger traffic and tactile interactions at a new Turkish airport.
New biometric solutions enable passengers to check in for a flight in the SITA Flex public system. Once this process has been completed, travelers might minimize their further contact with equipment by using a face scan process at every stage of the journey, starting from security and passport control to boarding.
According to the latest SITA IT Insights report, safety and efficiency have become a key feature in operating airports and airlines after the protracted period of the pandemic. As travelers gradually are returning to travel, new operations related to monitor passenger health are helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by monitoring the airport congestion.
