Since February 3, 2020, all the international flights were reduced by 99%, and from April 1 to May 1, 2020 regular domestic flights were reduced appropriately, according to representatives of the Civil Aviation Committee of the MIID RK. Undoubtedly, this situation had a detrimental effect on the passenger traffic. At the end of last year, 5.5 million people were transported within our country by reducing at 36% compared to 2019 (8.6 million passengers). In addition, the number of passengers had dropped by 40% - 10.7 million Kazakhstan citizens.

Currently, domestic flights are operated on 47 routes with a frequency of 574 flights per week (there were 45 routes with a frequency of 540 flights before the COVID-19 pandemic). “According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of this year, Kazakhstan air carriers had lost 12 billion tenge, including: JSC Skat - 6.3 billion tenge, Air Astana JSC - 4.5 billion tenge, JSC Qazaq Air - 847 million tenge, JSC Southern Sky - 64.8 million tenge, JSC Zhetysu - 270 million tenge, JSC  Zhezkazgan Air - 44 million tenge ", - says in the message.
