While pursuing the goal of decarbonization, Airbus has begun refueling specialized super-large cargo aircrafts Beluga with biofuel, according to the news agency ATO.
“Along with our ongoing research, including the use of 100% green fuel for commercial flights, this occasion underscores the Airbus’ commitment to reduce the influence of industrial production on the environment, thereby contributing the sustainable development of the aviation industry,” said Tony Derjen, Green Aviation Fuel Project Manager, Airbus.
Currently, commercial flights are allowed to be operated at a 50% blend of the environmentally friendly aviation fuel and kerosene. The renewable bio-fuels used by the Beluga Park are made from sustainable raw materials such as an edible vegetable oil and is supplied to Airbus by Air BP.
