Kazakhstan will introduce a tourist tax from foreigners

Since 2022, Kazakhstan will introduce a special tourist tax from foreigners in order to support regional budgets and develop the industry. The Senator of the Parliament of Kazakhstan at a plenary session in the second, final reading has approved the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Tourism Activities," according to the Interfax-Kazakhstan.

According to the Minister of Culture and Sports Aktoty Raimkulova, the law is aimed at improving the state regulation of the tourism industry in accordance with the public strategic documents by creating the necessary legal framework for tourism industry. The document envisaged a number of legislative amendments, in particular, the report introduces the notion "priority tourist territory".

In addition, the document is aimed at improving the regulatory policy in the field of tourism and bringing it in line with the Entrepreneurial Code. Moreover, the authorized and other state bodies will be endowed with additional competencies in connection with the introduction of new state support for the tourism industry.
