The main state operator Uzbekistan Airports is reducing basic fees and tariffs for aircraft maintenance of foreign airlines, Interfax-Kazakhstan writes, citing the company's press service.
“From April 15, Uzbekistan Airports JSC has decided to reduce fees and tariffs for aircraft maintenance of foreign airlines operating scheduled flights to the airports of Uzbekistan by an average of 27%. The adopted decision will ensure the competitiveness of state airports and will contribute to the tourism development and business activity, thereby making air trips more accessible for the population”, the message says.
The Uzbekistan Airports includes eleven international civil airports. Since the early 1990s, a monopoly air carrier was operating in the country called the national airline Uzbek Airlines that was owned by the state. Its structure had also included all the civilian airports of the country. In November 2018, the airline has been reorganized by establishing separate joint-stock companies Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports.
