The European Commission intends to develop a COVID-19 vaccination certificate by summer within free circulation areas across Europe, according to the Interfax.
"The proposal will be adopted in March to facilitate free movement in the European Union. Regarding the certificate, it might be used as a proof of vaccinations, as well as to demonstrate test results or recovery," said Christian Wiegand, representative of the European Commission (EC) at a briefing in Brussels.
Reporters were wondered whether this initiative will be successful in facilitating the quarantine and how the decree is supposed to be adopted before the summer if there are still many unvaccinated people, etc. In response, the Head of the EU Official Representatives Service Eric Mamer urged to be patient since "the topic is quite recent". Another representative of the European Commission Johannes Barke explained that the certificate is supposed to be developed in paper and digital types while increasing personal data protection of users.
