UNICEF, involving sixteen significant international airlines, have launched the delivery of COVID-19 vaccine and other humanitarian supplies to regions requiring assistance. The organization which operates under the auspices of the United Nations, has created the UNICEF Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative jointly with global airlines, according to the news agency ATO.

Airlines have signed memorandums of understanding with UNICEF in order to provide the aviation delivery of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as medicines, medical services and supplies that might be required to combat the pandemic. Measures that have been adopted by participating carriers include the temperature control system and cargo security related to the COVID-19, as well as the supplement to cargo capacity on certain routes.

The Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative also aims at providing the global logistics that might occur as the result of the next humanitarian crisis.
