According to News, Czech Airlines has informed the labor exchange and trade unions about the upcoming dismissal of all 430 employees owing to carrier's tremendous financial losses amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The company is reportedly planning a massive layoff of employees by notifying the labor exchange. Czech Airlines was badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic - aircrafts and crews are left unused due to canceled flights. The company is a joint stock company and is unable to rely on financial public support.
In early February, the airline's management had appealed to the Czech government for providing financial support in the amount of 1.1 billion kroons (about € 42.5 million). Shortly thereafter, the Head of the Czech Trade and Industry Ministry Karel Havlicek has announced the state won't provide financial assistance to the company. Czech Airlines is one of the oldest airlines worldwide: the Russian Aeroflot, the Dutch KLM, the Colombian Avianca and the Australian Qantas were actually founded before.
