A leasing company Avolon and consulting agency IBA have published their forecasts related to the current situation in the air transport industry in 2021. In their vision, they figured out the market recovery will be fragmented, depending on the region and rapid distribution of the vaccine against COVID-19, the agency Aviation Week writes.
According to IBA, more than half of all vaccine doses will be received by the population of the Northern Hemisphere and Oceania. Experts stated these measures will have a significant impact on travel and business trips planning in 2021 and in the future. According to IBA analysts, North America will be the leader in the recovery, where passenger turnover growth will amount to 60% (from the current level), followed by Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. In other regions, the growth of passenger traffic is projected in the range of 30%.
Avolon analysts admit that a lot of airlines have to survive in difficult circumstances, meanwhile regional and low-cost carriers, as well as newcomers will be able to operate. "In 2021, we expect a decisive breakthrough in startup direction. Obviously, not every company will take off right away, but some of the fastest growing airlines will be created this year," Avolon stated.
