Emirates and Etihad Airways have announced their intentions to cooperate with IATA Travel Pass, a special mobile app assisting passengers to arrange travel in accordance with PCR testing or COVID-19 vaccination requirements, the news agency ATO writes.
Passengers will be able to launch their own "digital passport" in the application, enabling them to check a PCR test or vaccination in accordance with the requirements at several destinations. Users will also be able to transfer test or vaccination certificates to authorities and airlines in order to reduce the time and simplify their own travel.
Another essential step in restoring the air traffic is the announced staff vaccination program. The first vaccination receivers are Emirate's employees working with clients at the airport and on board, including flight attendants and pilots. The Pfizer-BioNTech and Chinese Sinopharm are used for vaccination, approved by the UAE health authorities. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways will offer the Travel Pass to passengers on select flights departing from Abu Dhabi in the first quarter of the year. If the experience is successful, the usage of the application would cover the entire route network of the UAE national carrier.
